Good Morning,
I have a Definity G3si V6 so I do not have holiday routing available. I hope I am on the right track on my first attempt to create a holiday message to activate on Dec. 24th. We currently have a hunt ns button set up on the attendant console for night but I would like to set one up for holiday that the operator can press when needed. I have my message recorded and a voice mail box set up on Audix. Can I create a hunt group with a vector that would send all incoming calls to ext. 463 (my holiday greeting) and include a vector that if someone presses 0 they go to the v.m. message box? The problem is I have never created a vector so I need help with one that would direct them to v.m. when zero is pressed after they hear the greeting and anything else I may need to know to include in my hunt group.
Thanks,
Tina

Tina,

I'm no expert, but I would like to help if I can. I have an example of a holiday vector and other vectors that I got from a class. Give me your fax number and I'll fax it to you.

01 wait-time 2 secs hearing ringback
02 goto step 6 if hoida in table 1
03 goto step 7 if time-of-day is fri 17:00 to mon 08:00
(Checks Holiday Table 1 for date/time)
04 goto step 7 if time-of-day is all 17:00 to all 08:00
05 route-to number xxxx with cov y if unconditionally
06 disconnect after announcement 2999
"thank you for calling ABC company or office will be closed on the holidays, please call again"
07 disconnect after announcement xxxx
"thank you for calling ABC company, our normal office hours are monday through friday 8-5 please call again"

You could also use a vector command "route to" in place of the "disconnect" and route it to a number with a greeting and voicemail box.

Toni,
Thanks for the help, I know why Iv'e been pulling my hair out on the vector not working. I finally gave in and called Avaya help line. I have basic vectoring but I do not have prompting, therefore they said the zero to v.m. box will not work. Instead I have a basic vector:
1 wait time 0 secs hearing ringback
2 announcement 463
3 stop
Too bad I couldn't get the zero option in....old version 6.
Thanks for your help though...

I had this same problem when I was running V6,,,luckily I was able to talk my CEO/CFO into upgrading the switch to R11. With R11, you have the holiday option. However, my workaround with V6 was to create a Holiday Hunt Group. Then set one users phone with the ability to log into that hunt. The statement in the Vector read:

goto step ## if logged-in agents in split ## > 0

with this statment, i was able to send all the calls to the normal night message when someone was logged into that new hunt. I was also able to use this same process when all users had to log off for a short meeting in the middle of the day.

Hope it helps in the future

Thanks Bob,
I finally did a basic vector and a hunt group and assigned a button on the console to activate and deactivate. It worked like a charm, only small glitch was that I couldn't include a zero out to a voice mail box in my vector because I don't have routing available. Do you recall a ball park $ figure for your upgrade?
Thanks,
Tina

Hi Tina, been on holidays so i did not see this. You could have simply told people in announcment 463 to remain on the lkine to leave a message and put a short delay in.

1 wait time 0 secs hearing ringback
2 anouncement 463
3 wait time 4 seconds hearing ringback
4 messaging split XX for extension XXXX
5 stop

Thanks that really helps alot, at least the caller has on option now. Since this is my very first vector and I'm green does the xx after messaging split mean my main hunt group # and the xxxx my voice mail box I set up for holiday messages?
Thanks,
Tina

Split xx is the voice mail hunt group. Extension xxxx woudl be the mailbox you set up. You should program this as a 2500 type x port covering immediately to voicemail in the PBX. This allows testing 7 prevents someone from assigning that local for some other use. You can put an aut-msg-wt key Ext xxxx on a set somwhere (like the console) as a visual indication on messages in there. My email is avaya@vancouver.hm if you need further help.

o.k. I see now. I already had my basic vector and I will add the remaining lines! Thanks for all of your help, I'll set it up before Wed. for the next holiday.

Your welcome. If the messaging split command is not available in that release, simply use "route to number XXXX with cov y" instead, & set up the aforementioned X-port. It should work as well.

all great advice, and why not just set up the holiday hunt group, test in the vector to see if staff > 0, then play announcement (if staff > 0) which simply says, "we are closed for the holidays, if you would like to leave a message, please press 1 now; otherwise please call back during our business hours", then wait 3 seconds, and route the call to voce mail. So what if the user press '1'; if they don't, they will just hang up, or they go to voice mail anyway. Seems like it should work......
