so i'm tryin to play an old game, and it seems my current graphic card is too advanced. So i figure...if i disable this graphic card, it should fall back on my old one, right? maybe that'll work with this game. So that's what i do, except i'd forgotten that my old card was actually taken out when i had some upgrades done on it a year ago. So now i just get a blank screen when i start up, even though everything else is working fine, i can hear the startup beeps, etc.

I have no other slot for my moniter but the one that connects into my graphic card, the other one was taken out when i got my computer upgraded.

Is there any way to get my display back, without buying a new card or opening my computer up? I'm in university right now and i need to get assignments done etc, so any quick feedback would be highly appreciated.

thanks!

How did you "dis-able" your graphics card? Do you mean you dis-abled your on-board video? If so, do you get video long enough to go into BIOS setup? If not, you are going to have to open the computer and reset the BIOS jumper. By the way (in the future), to play the "old" games (256k instead 16meg of resolution), you only have to change the resolution in video properties.

yeah i disabled it on board, i clicked "disable radeon 7200" or whatever it was then it said "are you sure?" i said yeah and restarted my computer, when it restarted all i got was a black screen.

How do i reset the bios jumper? do i just take out my video card, then re-insert it?

If it is "on-board" video, there is no card, (it is built in to the motherboard. The easiest way is to borrow a video card to get to the POST screen - go into BIOS - turn the on-board back on - save - turn off and remove the video card - turn back on and you should be OK. Actually, it would be easier to read the manual and find the reset jumper, but you would have to reset up ALL the bios settings over again. Unless you know all the settings, I would go the video card route.

There may be a jumper somewhere on your motherboard that resets to BIOS to factory defaults. Check your motherboard manual or contact the computer vendor for information on how to do this.

Just remove the mobo battery for about 30secs if you can't find the jumper

Have you tried booting into safe mode and re-enabling the video card?
