I just did an install yesterday and the Office uses an after hours answering service to handle calls. Previously they would just seize line 1 and dial *72 XXX-XXXX to forward their main number to the answering service. I was hoping to IPO forwarding functions to accomplish that but ran into some DTMF issue once the calls were forwarded to the answering service. So, temporarily I was going to set them up with a button that would grab line 1 and dial that number to forward.
I created a button that uses the "Dial" function to dial *97.
I created a short code *97 that Dials 9*72XXX-XXXX but when you press that button you get a busy tone back... so I tried all these combos
9D*72Dxxx-xxxx
9*72Dxxx-xxxx
9D*72xxx-xxxx
9,,*72,,xxx-xxxx
but ever time I just get that busy tone. However, if I manually give a phone an appearance for line 1, I can select line 1 and dial 9*72xxx-xxxx
What am I missing? one of the selling points of this was to streamline their forwarding process.
