Chassis Fan Threshold is set at the default of 1200 rpm. I'm getting clicking noise telling me the Power Fan and Chassis are 0 and the Monitor Summary for both of these the Value is 0 and it's blinking with the words (Power Fan below threshold!!! for both. I'm using Windows ME and I have the AMD Athlon 2100 CPU

It not that you need to replace your fan it's just that you mention how noisey it is so one solution as mentioned is to fit a larger and quieter unit.
Of course it won't be a direct replacement, the one you have is much smaller but what we are proposing is one of the step down fan mounts that is 60mm on one side and 80mm on the other (like a funnel) this plastic (or metal) mount first screws onto the heatsink instead of your existing fan, then a new 80mm fan screws on the larger 80mm mount side.If you go for this option you need to by an 80mm fan with an air movement rating above 30CFM (best around 35)it ideally needs to be the same 3 wire fan header type as a normal CPU fan so it plugs into the CPU fan header.
This is just a thought only, if you can put up with the noisey ThermalTake fan then thats fine.

Thanks Martin, I understand now, but couldn't I just buy a better 6 cu fan that is quieter than the Thermaltake Volcano instead? I have to admit it is quite a bit nosier than this older computer I'm on now. This is quite a bit quieter for sure.

Sure you can, from what I can see the Volcano 6CU has a powerful 60mm fan? probably way in excess of what you need to cool the XP2.1+ (don't get me wrong here, the XP2.1+ is a hot CPU) but the Volcano 6CU is a powerful heatsink so downing the CFM rating a LITTLE
by fitting a less powerful replacement should be OK.
Obviously monitor CPU temp closely for the first day or so.
Any MAXIMUM temp below 60C is safe and stable but I would hope even with the less powerful fan it should keep the max's pegged down in the low 50's C.

Martin,
Thank you so much for your input and I also want to Thank
Syar2003 and Freestone, I have learnt so much just for the short time I've been on Tek-Tips.

you are getting readings from some of the fans right?...probably the cpu fan and mobo temp right? The case fan and powersupply fan are the ones that beep and flash right. The fans you have on your case probably do not support temp or RPM readings. So no matter how low you put the rpms it will still beep and flash. You will have to just disable those in the asus prob. I have used the same program with my asus board. If you are sure that those fans have that support in there it would have two sets of cables coming from them ( power cables and prob cables that hook into ur mobo) If your case fan doesn't have two different sets of cables coming from it. It doesn't support it. If it does, make sure you are connecting them to the correct plugs on ur mobo.
