I installed red hat sucessfully but i can't get into GUI mode. is there a command line to type in.?
I installed gnome and kde.
I am using a boot disk to boot up linux.

thanks.

I assume you have installed an X-server, Xfree for example, to run it type "startx" at the command prompt.

Succes.

Hi,

As above, 'startx' starts the gui and that will use the default that you have set. If you want to use kde or gnome when your default desktop is the other way, you can do 'startkde' or 'gnome-session' respectively.

Also, to swap the default X desktop around use the 'switchdesk' utility -- >
If you want to permanently change to starting in gui-mode see -->
Hope this helps
