I have Compaq Evo610c with Windows XP Pro. I have tried to connect this laptop with my university LAN, where I intend to get internet connection. But unfortunately, I have no luck to make it work. I have set TCP/IP to obtain IP&DNS address automatically. DHCP is enable. I can see that network connection works and was able to pick up IP address, but it was strange because no packets was received. It was only be able to send packets.

Any idea to resolve this problem is more than welcome and appreciated.

Windows XP will generate an IP address if it doesn't get one from a DHCP server. Be sure the address on your machine matches the local subnetting. You may need to post more info about your situation in order to better understand your dilema.

...forgot to mention that you can statically set the IP address in order to test and verify.

It was resolved now, I just need to submit and register the ethernet card into administrator server list. It's working fine now. Thanks,
