I have been assigned as the primary MIS contact for a new project. The project is a small one for our department. It requires set up an configuration of a server, installing client workstations and some other things. The vendor for this project has been selected.

I have not been responsible for implementation of a new system. I would appreciate any help you could give regarding planning, documentation etc.

Also any guidance in system selection and evaluating vendor for another upcoming project billing/clinical systems selection.

Thanks

As a primary contact, just remember that you're not expected to know everything technical about the project. But you are expected to be around and be able to get questions answered. I always convey to our customers that we are here for them, and can ask us questions at anytime. We specialize in network cabling, ironically enough in the Northern California hospital environment. As far as evaluating them for the future... The way I look at is quite simple. Did they do everything that you asked and was it done to your expectations? If they did, it would only be fair to hire them again. If they didn't, let them know. Most decent companies would love the constructive critisism. I hope I helped in answering your question.
