I have ArcServeIt for Windows NT. Advanced Edition
Version 6.61 (Build 834SP1.
It is old - I know - but it has always worked well. (Minimal Problems)
I am having a problem now that I can't seem to fix.
I noticed that I was running short of space on the partitiion that has ArcServe. It seems for well over 2 months the cat file have been building up in the ArcServe temp folder.
I have tried the mergecat utility - but nothing happens. Is there a file that mergecat needs to run? Does the databse need to be shut down? I don't get any errors or messages. Should I delete some of the jobs to free up some space and then run mergecat? Let me know - Thanks

HI,

First of all , check the size of the ARCserve database...
if it is considerable large.. initialize it.
This will free up a lot of space..

you can safely delete all the files in the "temp" folder.

all these cat files are on the tape anyways...
so , when you wanna erstore a tape you can merge it and restore it...

Hope this helps..

cheers

So it Shall be Written!
So it Shall be Done!!

yeah - thats what i suspected.
A catch22..no space because of those files.
Thanks
Cheers!

Perfect timing. I had the same issue this week. The partition that ArcServe 6.61 (Build 834Sp2a) was installed to, was 8GB and the ArcServe folder had grown to take over 6GB of that space. Removing old CAT files gave me over 4.5GB of space. Backups should resume tonight.

Thank you!
