I have an access view of a mysql database, which I am linked to via odbc. Everything seems to work find. I can update and edit right from access.

However, when I added a field to the database in my sql and then open the table in access, using my prior odbc connection, the field does not appear.

But if I open the database by going through the process of linking via odbc all over again, the new fields then appear.

Is there a way in access for me to refresh my connection or view to reflect new fields added, without having to open a new connection every time?

Also note that only the new fields fail to appear in the access table view, however any new data within any givin table is available for viewing in real time.

Any help would be appreciated.

You can use the Linked Table Manager to refresh the connection. Look under Tools on the menu. The Linked Table Manger is in the Database Utilities in Access 2000. Terry L. Broadbent

Also,
what about refeshing the view to see a new table?

Is there somewhere for that?

thanks

I'm not sure which view you refer to. You need to link the table. Can you see the table when you try to link? If not, the SQL Server login you use from Access may not have permission to see the new table. Terry L. Broadbent
