I have a problem with drive serial numbers on NB DC 3.4.1. When I list the drives from Media & Dev Manager, some drives within an ATL don't display the serial number.
It the same if with 'tpautoconf -t'. 4 drives would have a serial number, but 2 wouldn't.

Any ideas??

There's maybe a difference with drive firmware levels ...
It's not absolutly necessary to get those serial numbers (but it's easier to configure later).

If you need it to configure devices within Netbackup, try to do it with SCSI ID.
Match the physical slot of the drive with its SCSI ID, then the SCSI ID with the OS device name.

Hope this helps.

I know it's not absolutely necessary, but we have so about 8 media servers using the same ATL and it seems to be the best way to ensure that they are all configured correctly.
All the drives are at the same revision of firmware.

SCSI ID won't necessarily work, because some of the servers use 2 ATLs so the 6 drives of the one I'm concerned with are 0-5 on some, and 8-13 on the servers that use 2 ATLs.
