I have licensed install of Arcserve 2000 Advanced Edition Version 7.0 backup server running on a old WinNT server that I am retiring. I have built a new Win2k Server and loaded the same Arcserve 2000 Advanced Editions Version 7.0 software on the new server. It is all working now and I am ready to shutdown the old WinNT server. I keeping getting the message below in the Event Viewer that says:

Computer Associates Licensing -3NUB- Component not licensed.
Please run the appropriate license program to properly license your product. It filling up the event viewer.

I don't know what the appropriate license program is. I tooks this task over from someone who left the company and this was never explained to me. I have tried copying the
C:\CA_LIC folder over from the old server but that did not help.

Can someone give me a hint on what I need to do to resolve this for this backup server and for clients.

Thank You.

If you are retiring the old server and using the same copy of arcserve on the new one - you can try copying the ca.olf file from the \ca_lic directory from the old machine to the new one and see if this works.

Okay I found out what to do just in case someone else runs into the same problem. You need the box the software came in because it has the Registration ID for each Product.

To get a license registered so you don't get an error in the event log you need to call the Computer Associates license folks at 800-338-6720. If you ignore these messages the software will stop functioning afer 30 days.
You can also email them at tlc@helpdesk.ca.com and give them the Registration ID that you generated when you ran
Start => CA Registration => RegisterIT

That will get you started.
