Hi

I have a customer who computers harddrive has collapse.
I can not read anything from the HD and I have asked the customer about the backup software and he can not find any software.

The tape drive is a Qautum Travan 40GB.
How can I find out which backup software is used?
Are there some tape utility how can read the tape and give me some information about the backup software how i used?

Regards

Matts

hi

1. Are you sure he has used any?

2. You could just look through his programm files.

post back pls

You can use Windows NT backup to read the tape. Most backup programs convert the data to a .bkf file. You can use almost any backup software to read the data from the file. So say the customer used Backup Exec to backup data, it will be stored on tape as a .bkf file and you can use Windows NTbackup to restore data from that file.
