I created a desktop icon for one of my programs but when I put it on the desktop, the background color is transparent. When I view the icon in Windows Paintshop, the background is visible! What am I missing? There's always a better way...
I seem to remember reading somewhere that the top left pixel of an icon sets which colour will appear as transparent on the desktop. So if you try changing it, the the transparency effect should stop.
Try just changing the extension to .ico using Windows Explorer. You shouldn't need a third party software to create the .ico. .ico is another form of the .bmp format and just changing the extension should work.
