I have 3 networker storage devices and in them I had different "drives". On the A Storage device it would have like Drive 0, 3, 11, and on device B it would have 1,4,10, and on device C it would have 2,5,9. I cannot recall how I change a group to backup to a different device. I have had minimal training in Networker and the "guru" is gone.

Any advice?

It is Networker 7.3.2 and it runs on Windows 2003.

You do this indirectly by setting up pools. You may also select devices here but usually this is not necessary and will cause more problems.

By doing that, you do not write to certain devices but to media pools.

The numbers do not mean anything - the OS will assign the device names. You just need to supply the device names when configuring a device.

What I am trying to do is restore a file and when I setup the new pools I put them in different devices than what they were previously. Now the files cannot call up the tapes that it needs to restore the files from. I keeps telling me "Cannot allocate 1 devices needed for Load operation, number of available and usable devices = 0";

It seems that you did not configure any drive yet. Can this be true?

It shouldn't be true. It has been backing up? I am confused :).

I just figured it out... we have devices assigned to the storage groups. The device that it needed to mount that particular tape was on a different device so I documented it and moved it. Now everything seems to be working.

Thanks for your guidance!
