I can't locate my "portrait" table in CR 8.5 to insert pictures

Hi lbass,
It's me again and I am confused as to why one of my tables in CR 8.5 isn't listed, it's called: portrait. I found the SQL script file where it is listed as Cr_portrait along with all the other script files which are listed in CR for me to select from when I make my other reports. I want to be able to insert every employees picture beside their name in a new report. Is this possible? Thank you for your time and effort as always!

Where are the pictures stored?

If it is in a database then you are fine. Just select the field from the table.

If it is not you will need to look further. Check out the FAQ here on Tek Tips or Issue 34 (March 2003) of Crystal Clear.

Thanks for the reply! However, it looks like I have to look further into the SQL and ODBC in order to figure this one out because it's not part of the CR 8.5 tables that I have already. The sad part is, I know nothing about SQL or ODBC. I guess the tech who set up all the other tables didn't want to set up the Cr_portrait as a table in CR, perhaps the pitctures would bogg the system down since there are a huge # of employee photos. Can I import and save that SQL Script file, Cr_portratit, as a .dbo.portrait file inorder to pick from it like the other tables in CR? Thanks!

You will need to talk to your DBA. It might be just that you don't have security settings to see the table, or he/she might not have transferred it across.

If you can build the file name of the image you want inside a formula, then you can use our cViewIMAGE COM driver inside a subreport to present the image in a report.

I probably don't have the security settings to see the table. Atleast thats what my coworker thinks as well. I hope that there is a way to right a formula in order to insert these employees portraits beside their name. In the book it shows the table name as portrait and the following under it:

INTEGER..............pt_holder_id .....holder ID
DATETIME.............pt_create_date .....date image saved
IMAGE................pt_image ...........image data
INTERGER.............pt_instance.........portrait instance

PRIMARY KEY (pt_holder_id,pt_instance)

Can I still write a formula even if I can't see the table listed in CR 8.5?

Thanks a bunch!
