I was backing up a group of 5 servers in our DMZ. One was giving me problems, but a uninstall and reinstall of the client and an entry in the hosts file fixed that. Now they decided to change the name of one the the servers. The IP wasn't changed. I had our network engineer change the name in the firewall (just accounting), changed the entries in the hosts files on the master and media servers, and edited the policy. I am getting 58 errors for this client. I didi what I did before. I reinstalled the client and still get a 58 error.

The master and media server is running window 2003 standard and netbackup version is 6.5.3.1.

The client is running Windows 2008 Server and Client version is 6.5 clinet for 2008.

Firewall shouldn't be a problem as I can communicate the the other servers in the group.

I've checked and rechecked host files.

Any help would be appreciated.

But we're not using DNS, We're using Hosts file entries. Do you think this could be causing a conflict?

Did you change the client properties on the master to ensure the new client name is using VNETD ?

To update you, when the name changed, so did the function. They decided to turn on the Windows Firewall. When I asked them what changed, nothing, just the name. SE couldn't turn the firewall off so I had to put port exceptions in the firewall.

Thanks for your help,
