I use Veritas 8.60 on a dell server and tape drive. Yesterday I did a restore on a database but forgot to change the tape to the correct one for last nights backup. This morning the error lights are blinking on the tape drive and i can't get the tape to eject. I looked around in BE and it appeared that the job from last night was paused so i canceled it and still nothing. can anyone help.

only way to resolve this is to do a cold shutdown of the server. You may want to try shuting down the bkexec services
under services but i normally find that a cold shutdown and then on powerup hold the eject button for like 10-15 secs

thank you very much for your help.do i need to power down the tape drive also or just the server>?

so its an external unit. Not sure about what needs to be powered down try the DAT unit first and before you power on hold the eject button and then power on hope this helps
