I'm using a registered copy of Director 8.0 at school for a project. For some reason I can't get the playback to go faster than 30 fps. In the online help it says "Director won't play faster than 30 fps unless you are using 'Direct to Stage.'" But in my Director text/manual (by Phil Gross) it doesnt make any mention of this at all (just tells you to use the tempo dialouge box.)

Can someone help me figure out what's wrong here?

thanks a lot!

James

Hi,
I'm using Directior 8.5 and I use puppetTempo to change the frameRate:

-- I put this in the message box.
puppetTempo 30
put the frametempo
-- 30
puppetTempo 40
put the frameTempo
-- 40

Whether it will really play faster I do not know, but the fact is the tempo has changed.
Hope this helps.

I think I have found that my computer is not fast enough to play what I made any faster. :( Thanks though.

Standard "movie" tempo is 30fps ... whether it is a Director movie or a AVI or ???

You can set the tempo higher, but the only items in your movie that will be affected and play faster will be any sprites that are set Direct-To-Stage ... regular layers will still play at 30fps.
