i'm using SQL Server 7 and i want to build the relationships of my tables, so i create a new database diagram right? after the wizard, no tables show in the diagram. and when i try adding an existing table, it prompts an error (CoInitialize has not been called). Whats wrong and what can i do to create the relationships?

thanks!

This will sound flip. Now, that I've got that out of the way, it's because you haven't taken the $1500 to $3500 hit and bought Embarcadero's ER-Studio or ErWin to do your design, etc.

Those third party tools are so much better than the diagram tool.

Sometimes I get the same problem, with that CoInitialize.
I can't track it down though. It has actually gone away yet I don't know what has changed on my computer. It may of been fixed in SP3 or it could be a case of reinstalling EM to get rid of it.

I have received the same error (Coinitialize has not been called) but not with consistency. I have found that when I log out and relogin that I can then add the tables. (This error happens in both creating views and diagrams)

I will pursue trying to reinstall EM to see if that clears it up.
