When I try to open WORD, I get a window from NTCWORD
"Permission denied when trying to run WINWORD.EXE'
I have an NEC Versa laptop running Windows XP, with Zone Alarm Pro 6 and Nortons A/V (They are co-existing at present)

Can you assist?

What about the remainder of the office apps?? Same problem or only for word??

You can try removing the MS office with add/remove programs in control panel, rebooting as required.

Then reinstall the app.

confuseD44,
maybe check file association and remove it and then re-associate?

try going to start, click run, and type "winword /a"

Oh and PS - you might get a better response in a software forum since this forum is for hardware.

My mom had a similar problem on Windows ME---I told her to first trash the ME, go to 2000 Pro or SuSE Linux. Then, I Googled it, because spyware scans and Norton did not detect anything, even in safe mode. I found a post that suggested a registry key that a virus planted---sure enough. She still runs ME to this day. Thank God she wasn't responsible for my computer knowledge! Anyway, Google it.
