When I use the Drive Utility in Mac OSX 10.3.9 I can see external Firewire Hard drive but it won't mount. I see the drive size "76.3 GB DMI" And I see the Drive name "Drive 1" When I Click The "Verify Disk" And "Repair Disk" all reports come back Good "1 volume checked HFS volume verified" And Mount point It says "Unmounted" and I click (With a little faint Hope) the "Mount" button and nothing happens. Any Ideas? I have about 40gigs of tresured music on the disk (sob sob)
Thanks
Paddy

Have you checked Finder/Preferences/General to see if you have it set to show connected drives?

Yes, I have two other connected drives that are showing fine. I have since been using Disk Warrior which can see that the Directory needs to be rebuilt but when told to do so, freezes . I'm not feeling very hopeful!

You can also try unplugging the firewire plug and plugging it back in while the computer is running.

Depending on how you have things set you can also daisy chain the thing from another outboard drive or remove any dasiy chain if used and see what happens.

If there is a USB port on the drive try that. If that works, consider updating the firmware on the drive to get the firewire port working again.

I tried the USB port on the drive and that still made no difference.

I purchased Norton Disk Utilities in the hope that it would be able to do what Disk Warrior was not able to. It Did It!! Drive1 has been saved Norton Disk Doctor and Volume Recover did it.
Thanks one and all for your feedback.
