Hi,
I´m trying my best to install and configure SharePoint portal 2003 trial version... It´s not going to well! Maybe some-one here can help...?

The installation is fine, but when the configuration starts - help me god! OK, first question (start slowly):

1. Do I need to connect to AD to add users? Is there no other way in adding users?

When I add a portal site, I can not open it (probably because I have not figured out to connect user profiles?)
The only instructions I find are: "On the Manage Profile Database page, click Configure profile import." However, I can not for the life of me find this "Manage Profile Database" page! Probably because I can´t open the top level site in the web-servies ( site)

Can anyone help me with proper configuration instructions to get a portal site to work?

if this is your first crack at sharepoint, why not go for Sharepoint/MOSS 2007?

To answer your questions:

1. You can add users either from AD or local accounts.

Did you configure the server topology correctly? Did you create a new portal site?

hey wolvie, thanks for the tips :)

I´ve uninstalled the 2003 version and started a download of the MOSS 2007 beta version! :) (Don´t know why I didn´t do that in the first place... Guess google didn´t point me to it :)

Anyways...I´m still sensing that I will encounter similar problems as in the 2003 version.

Server topology: I probably didn´t configure the server topology correctly since it wasn´t working..right? But I don´t know what I was doing wrong there. I am using the Administrator rights on my server is there anything else I need to think about?
And yes, I created a new portal site, but never got it up and running correctly ("You are not authorized to view this page" error)...

I´ll probably get back to you with some 2007 beta version questions... :)
