Hi All,

Thank you for taking your time to take a look at this post. I accidentally deleted the "my computer icon", can someone help me find out how I can get the icon back?

Thanks!!

1. System restore?

2. right-click a blank area of the desktop, Properties,
Desktop tab, Customize Desktop, and click on My Computer.

Right-click on the Desktop and select Properties/ Desktop/ Customize Desktop/ Check the My Computer Icon box or try Restore Defaults.

Try to rebuild the profile: add a new user account then log in as that user; rename the profile (C drive - docs and settings - USER ID (rename the userid to userid-old), then log back in as your old account. It will restore the profile back to defaults (desktop prefs and any shortcuts you made) This will give you the option recustomize the desktop to add the MY COMPUTER icon back.

Are you sure you just didnt delete the desktop icon? If you using XP style menus, open the start menu find My Computer and right click select show on desktop. If it is allready checked uncheck and then re-check it should show back up.

Start | right click on my computer | show on desktop
It should be there, unless you mean the actual 'pictue' instead of the shortcut (then u need system restore)

Thanks for your help people. You all showed me different approaches on solving the same issue

[2thumbsup]
