We are migrating to NOTES from Outlook. We still have some users on Outlook. When they send a hyperlink to a NOTES user, that user cannot open the hyperlink. It comes through as plain text.

I have tried several things, using Word as the editor in Outlook, sending as HTML text, but so far nothing has worked. Any help would be appreciated.

Does the hyperlink text you are entering have http:// at the beginning...?? If it doesn't the hyperlink will remain as standard text. You will find if the http:// is in place, when the email is opened by a recipient it will be a 'clickable' hyperlink. Hope this sorts you out...

Well, I thought it was going to solve the problem but it didn't. Perhaps what I want is not truly a hyperlink although that is what it is called in Outlook.

What we want to do is provide a link to a file on our network such as \\fileserver\public\mis\book3.xls. In Outlook when this is typed, the link is there and when it is clicked on, the Excel file will open.

These are large files and we have trained our people to send a link instead of sending the entire file. It is also a shared file so we don't want several files floating around the system.

Any further thoughts?

I need the same thing. Did you figure this out and if so can you tell me how to do it?

Thanks

Yes we did. There are a lot more steps than simply typing the address. Here is how I do it.

1. Type the link.
2. Highlight the link and Ctrl C to copy it.
3. With the link still highlighted click on Create Hotspot, Link Hotspot.
4. Be sure the Type is URL.
5. Paste the link into the Value Box.

I actually have the first problem: when I get a link in a message (it DOES have the http:\\) it is not clickable. It used to work right, until I played around with some settings to get hyperlinks to open up in IE, rather than Notes crummy "browser". I have been unable to find where this setting may have been. Anyone know?

Could be under File, Preferences, User Preferences, Basics tab, Additional options, Make notes the default browser on my system.

Thx tonty, though that wasn't it, I'll give you a star for leading me down the right path.

It was actually in the Additional options section, "Make Internet URLs ( into Hotspots."
Once I checked this, URLs are "clickable" again.
