On my work PC on the Internet my hyperlinks stop working after a variable number of clicks - the next site just does not load. I have tried reinstalling etc all to no avail! Also when I try to use "Find" I get a load of error messages about do I want to debug - then find does not work. Has been a problem on and off for about 3 months - any ideas? Using Windows 98 and IE5.

Large range of solutions here .
thread608-132319 don't work

First, try setting IE5 as your default browser. Go to IE tools/internet options/programs and
turn on the check box for IE to check if it is the default browser. Shut down and restart IE.
When it asks to be default browser, say yes.

Also have a look at this link:

Also see 'open in new window doesn't work'

Go to my computer, view/folder options/file types (or control panel, folder options depending on
your operating system.

Scroll down to the URL:Hypertext Transfer Protocols, click edit twice and make sure the
following is in the application used to perform action box:

"C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\iexplore.exe" -nohome

The same applies for URL:Gopher

DDE should be set to: "%1",,-1,0,,,,
Application should say: IExplore
DDE application not running should be blank

Make Hyperlink Open New Page from an Email link .

You have a web page open that you're checking out. An e-mail comes in and you decide to switch
to your e-mail program. As you check out the new e-mail, you see a friend has sent you a link to
a cool web page. So, you click the link and it loads in place of the page you were originally
looking at. You catch yourself yelling, "Hey, stop! I was lookin' at that!"

Sure, you can always hit your Back button to go back to your original page, but wouldn't it be
nicer if the e-mail link would just open up in a new window?

Good news- it can with just a couple of clicks of your mouse!

1. Open up IE and select the Tools menu, Internet Options.

2. Under the Advanced tab, look for the Browsing section. Now, look for a check box labeled
"Reuse windows for launching shortcuts". Uncheck and you're all set

If you're using a pre 5.0 version of IE, you're looking to check (not uncheck) a checkbox
labeled "Launch Browser windows in a seperate process".

Upgraded IE & you have problems .

Microsoft provides a patch to rectify the problem:

When you run this executable, when it prompts you whether you wish to overwrite Newer files,
make sure to click YES for each file (do not select "No" or "No to All").

Hyperlinks don't launch in a new window / Set Internet Explorer to browse in a new process

------------------------------------------------

Outlook/Outlook Express Hyperlinks Don't Work .
This can be can be caused by the installation and uninstall of another browser such as
Netscape. In Windows 9x/Me Go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Internet Options, Programs,
and make sure the "Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser"
checkbox is checked. This setting can be done in the Internet Explorer and Outlook Express in
tools, Internet Options... See OLEXP: Internet Shortcuts in Outlook Express Do Not Start Web
Browser (Q177054) at for other
steps.

Email problems xp,outlook express hyperlinks not working .
I found that if you go to control panel , then to folder options , then file types , hypertext transfer protocol , then click on advanced , then click on edit , in the DDE message line take out the -1,0,,,, then click ok and then close all open windows and then try the hypertext links in outlook express and this should fix the problem.
