We are just learning Flash MX (not much experience with any flash). We are trying to use a pic to hyperlink to another site but the rollover layer prevents linking more than one pic off one page. (Basically what is happening is we are adding the hyperlink to the rollover layer and not the picture - not what we want to do.)

How can we hyperlink off a pic in a flash site?

image linking should be fairly straight forward
have you converted your image to a button symbol?

can you post URL where questionable behaviour can be seen?

Yes, we converted to button first and used the getURL settings with _blank to bring up another window. The problem is it assigns the button to the rollover and not the specific pic we want it assigned to. We still haven't figured it out but working on it...any suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

Page looks great

do not understand what you mean by

"assigns the button to the rollover and not the specific pic"

the pic needs to be the button-
if the "rollover" is a movie clip, then open the clip from the library and insert/convert the pic there....

which link is the problem? it is hard to tell from page sent, because it appears to be a template page and most links are not yet assigned...

There's a rollover layer so when the mouse goes over the pic, it gives a shading, you should be able to see the that. It's the Ecliptical Realms pic and also other pics on other pages (I think it's the About Us page has 3 pics which we want links on). You are correct, this is a flash template we purchased.

If you're using buttons handlers to shade the clips themselves, then these are probably overriding any other button's handler you've set or would set within that clip.
You need to use a hitTest on the clip itself for the shade effect, and a button's handler for the hyperlink.

I've never seen a Template that was coded very well... You should provide a link to the .fla, if you want me to provide further help on this.
