I have two documents created with WORD:

1) 'Document_A.doc' has hyperlink 'hyperlink_A'
2) 'Document_B.doc' has hyperlink 'hyperlink_B' and 'bookmark_B'

Using WORD, I can access 'bookmark_B' by one of these methods:

1) click 'hyperlink_B' (which calls #bookmark_B)
2) click 'hyperlink_A' (which calls Document_B.doc#bookmark_B)

However, when I create PDF files from these two WORD files then the following happens:

1) I can access PDF 'bookmark_B' by clicking 'hyperlink_B' (which calls #bookmark_B)[smile]
2) If I click 'hyperlink_A' (which I renamed to Document_B.pdf#bookmark_B in WORD before creating the PDF file), I reach the beginning of document_B, and not the actual bookmark.[sad]

What is the solution?

You could combine the documents, either in Word, or in Acrobat Professional, so there would be just one set of bookmarks in one document to deal with...

I can't do that... I am dealing with several large files already (some with 40 to 50 pages).

That's why I want to use several (smaller) files and cross-reference them with bookmarks.

How many bookmarks are you working with ? our internal phone directory is a PDF with 120 pages and several dozen bookmarks, so the bookmark tab acts like a table of contents.
An alternative that might work for you would be to break up your documents into much smaller PDF's (chapters, logical groupings), with an HTML page as the index, with links to each of the smaller PDF documents. We use that method for our Administrative Regulation repository....

I'm dealing with about 30 'magazines' each comprising 50 to 60 pages.

You might want to check publications which are doing something similar - I belong to ARRL.org, and they issue a CD-ROM with their Handbook for Radio Communications, which contains all of the 1000+ page volume, plus video and sound clips - and it's all done with PDF. They also issue 10-year CD's of their magazine's archive, with 120 issues at a few hundred pages each. I don't know if they hyperlink between each issue...
