Hi, I'm an experienced Indesign user, but have one bugbear that drives me insane. I use Indesign to create e-newsletters, incorporating hundreds of urls per document. However, when I use the hyperlinks palette and choose for the link to be a url, to make it work I have to also choose for it to be 'unnamed' in the drop down menu. This menu contains all the hundreds of urls I've had in my newsletters over the last few months. I have to scroll through them all to get to the bottom, to the 'unnamed' option.

The question, is there any way to clear this menu, so I don't have to spend 30 seconds scrolling to activate each link? It takes ne twice the time needed to produce my newsletters simply because of this. It tests my patience big time!

Please help!

...will the option 'New Hyperlink from URL' work instead?

Hi Andrew, thanks for replying. How do you do the 'new hyperlink from url'? I've only been taught the way I use. I'm sure it's imple, but so am I... ;)

..according to my version of Indesign CS 2, it is in the flyout menu of the hyperlinks palette...

...this feature, seemingly creates the name from the type selected and also enters the URL address, the the text selected is just a normal bit of text then you will have to type in the URL,or select the correct URL required from your already listed items...

...this may only be a feature of CS2 though, not sure if it is in lower versions...

It's not a feature in CS1 which I have, but I am soon to get CS2 and shall bear that in mind. Thank you for your help, it's an incentive to upgrade sooner rather than later.

Sorry, just read your post again (I'm a bit slow)... the part where you have to select from your already used items, that list, that is the problem. My list is about 2000 long. It's that I need to clear. Why couldn't Adobe design it so 'unnamed' was at the start of the list instead of the end... maybe I should tell them to do that in their next version...

...as i mentioned above the 'New Hyperlink from URL' in CS2 creates the name so no choice is required, only seems necessary to check the URL is typed in correctly in the field provided and all seems to work fine...

...have you tried creating your own hyperlink destination? for example, naming one '01' or 'A' so it appears at the top of your list? would this work for you?
