hyperlink isn't marked in mail

hi ,

i'm using win xp and MS office 2003.
When i receive a mail with an hyperlink it's sometimes not recognized as a hyperlink and i need to copy and past it in order to open it.
the hlink is fe \\192.1.1.237\e$\data\Reports\Management-Weekly_figures.xls
or S:\Reports\Management-Weekly_figures.xls

With Vista users who receive the same mail there's no problem.

Same identical email sent to both machines?

In Outlook on the XP machine:

Under Tools -> Options ->Mail Format...
is "Use MS Office Word 2003 to edit e-mail messages" and
"Use MS Office Word 2003 to read Rich Text e-mail messages" checked? Not that it SHOULD be required, but it's worth a check.

both options are checked.
The strange thing is if i copy and paste the link in a new mail then the url is underlined .
