Access 97. I am working with a switchboard form. I have previously built hyperlink buttons. (make a lable, insert hyperlink, browse, highlight rpt name). This week when I make a lable box, then select insert hyperlink, them select the browse button in the "named location in file" area, then I receive the error "ms access can't open the file xxxxxxxx it may not be a db, or it may be a db you are unable to open. I am the admin on the db, and it is located on a LAN server. What has happed, did I do something? Need all the help I can get! Thanks in advance!

It sounds as if the pathname you are specifying for the hyperlink is innaccurate in some way, or is there possibly a password on the db in question? if there is a password Access' hyperlink wizard may not automatically prompt to enter it.
Brian Famous
bfamous@ncdoi.net

Thanks for your reply. I am the admin on the db and have setup user authorization in the mdw file, but no password on the db itself. I believe the path I used last week was already in the "named location in file" box, but when I type the location (ex: N:\XXX Reports\secure xx1.mdb) I received the error mssg. I don't know why the box is blank. I'm open to any and all suggestions. Thanks

Question: could the problem be that I have secured the db? I am the owner and the admin of the db. I have an older backup of the db & using a normal .mdw file, and it the "insert hyperlink" works fine. When I launched the secured db using the secure1.mdw file, then I can not "insert hyperlink" into a form. Is the problem because of the db being secured, the .ldb? Please help, I'm at a work stoppage on this one.
