I'd like to know if Star Office 6 or 5.2
a) has Back/Forward buttons to navigate hyperlinks
b) has a quick and simple method (without extra typing etc) for creating links to text in the same doc, other local docs, and URLs
-so I can break free from M$ W**d which does have these.
I've tried OpenOffice 1 but it doesn't seem to have any way of navigating back thru links, and it only seems to be able to create named bookmarks within the same doc which is very time-consuming!

Thanks
Mike

Yes. Because StarOffice XML-based application ALL documents in it have hypertext form. Hyperlinks created thru menu or manually (StarOffice fully customisable, so you can assign a keys combination for any standard or macro-recorded action. Not only for macros like in MSOffice) or imported from another documents will "work" always (with little exception - export to HTML not always correct for local links - it's not noticeable if you needn't HTML). You can use Browser navigation and Document navigator in any context. But! Be prepared to confuse with object-oriented environment and Non-Microsoft interface.

NOPIK - Thanks for your reply, but can you clarify a few points. (I should also have stated that I'm only interested in the word processor Writer)
1. Is your reply for SO version 5.2 or 6 or other?
2. Does StarWriter have a 'Back' button on a toolbar?
- if not, how is it done?
3. Word (97) doesn't need to use macros to create hyperlinks. eg: for link to text in same doc just copy the destination text to clipboard, click on point to insert hyperlink, then go Insert Menu > Paste As Hyperlink. It pastes the copied text in as the link. Its very easy because the link doesn't have to be named like a bookmark. I use these a lot for 'Contents' and 'Index'.
Is the SO method anything like the Word method?

Thanks again
Mike
