I just want too have a feel about the following.

We currently have an IP Office System running with about 100 Digital Telephone sets. And we need to change our Telco Sys , not because of Technical problems but more from a financial perspective. Our Lease coming to an end.

Lately, the Data Network has been upgraded with all the bells and whistles.Structured cabling. Managed PoE Gigabit Switch - Cat6. ( We have 3 floors ) backbone via Fiber...etc etc..

I understand that Going fully Voip offers all that advantages that we have one Network for Data and Comms and easily manageable from an IT guy perspective. The IP Phones are the equivalent of a PC with all the Bells and Whistles

On the other hand if the telephone sets were all Digital and wired ,Structured cabling can help but still it would be more time consuming from administering the system.

We currently using the system in a Health Care Environment. 70%- 80% of all extensions are being used Rooms\Visitors\Normal Users(All Barred). 80% of All Outgoing Comms need to go through Operator.

Is there a real gain to go Full IP for all 100 Extensions or would it not better to have an Hybrid System

Thanks to all those Admin guys who would like to give their personal view. But i also know that "De gustibus non est disputandum "

Thanks to all.

Here we deploy rooms/visitors/... as simple analogue phones that can be easily replaced with a lower cost.
it's more easy to manage : analogue = elevators, FAXes or Barred.
other phones are IP, since Digital doesn't cost really less, and aren't really updated...

If you have the budget, then IP is the way to go. The benefit of IP Office is that it is, and always has been a Hybrid system.

IP is cheaper, because you can move to an all software solution. The chassis, gateways required to support 100's of digital phones can be expensive, and require maintenance contracts.

However if you have 100's of phones that are digital today, only because infrastructure to support an all IP model is not all there yet, then that is is where it pays to have a hybrid system like Avaya.

Some infrastructure costs have hidden surprises. It's not always as easy as adding a switch port. You need to run cabling and install conduits. Older buildings may have asbestos that needs removal, and then in healthcare you need to consider the clean up after its removal. This can all add tremendous expense just to bring dialtone to a desk.

There is also the risk to clinical disruption, which is never good, and then you could your embarked upon a career limiting move.

Take your time, and budget for a phased in migration plan.

Avaya IP Office is IP ready when you are.
