Howdy!

Trying to install DLT Drive in a mid range server running SCO UNIX 5.0.06 ...

I have adaptec scsi card model AHA-2940. At boot, card does not find tape drive. I have installed these in compaq servers many times without much of a challenge but never in a unit such as this.

Which card would you reconmend I use? I am inclined to believe that the card is not compatible to DLT drive.

Drive is a DLT 4000 (20/40) series.

Thank you all in advance!

We are using the same card and haven't had any problems. I would make sure that the SCSI ID numbers match up on the drive and the Adaptec setup and also check for termination problems. What kind of hard drive are you using IDE or SCSI?
If IDE, make sure the tape drive is terminated. If SCSI, check if either the hard drive is already terminated if so you don't have to terminate the tape drive.

At boot, card does not find tape drive"

ok, so take the card and drive and put it one of the compaq's.....does it see the drive now?

no -> check jumpers/term...change cable...change controller...change drive.

yes -> start checking bios for conflicting devices

DLT4000 = SCSI-2 Fast (Single-ended or Differential)
this should work with the 2940.
