I am running Cisco CallManager 6.1. I setup a few hunt lists to ring groups of people in our operations department.

Pilot: 1799 - Broadcast Distribution Algorithm
User A: 1796
User B: 1797

Everything works great but I would like a user to know what number the call came in on so they know how to answer the phone.

1799 - Group A
1800 - Group B

So a caller calls 1799 and User A answers the call, "Thank you for calling group A."

Is this possible? How do I configure it?

CentricCD:

I am an old PBX guy not a CallManager Admin. However, I am playing one at work for a while now.
Sounds like call pickup will show you who is calling whom before you pickup the call.
I was surprise to see "abc is calling def" on the display recently after I tried Call PickUp feature on CM. Then you can press the answer button to answer. Someone with more experience with CM can correct me.

KC you are correct. Call pickup will show the incoming call and prompt you again to answer it.
I was also happy to see that the phones can be programed to alert (visual and or audio) the other members that a call is coming into another line in the hunt group. So you can see it prior to attempting call pickup. Then when its directed to your phone, you are displayed with the details agian to verify you want to answer it.

However, its been my experience that call pickup will not work with hunt groups.

That is a cool feature but it will not quite work for what I need. Any other ideas for how to get the called hunt group name to show up?

Well, I would think this would work, but it would be the complicated way:
remove the hunt groups. set them all in the same pickup group with audio notification enabled.

When a call comes in to pilot number A, the group would see that on the visual notification (which they would look at after they heard the audible notice) and would then know how to answer the call.

If it were me and I did not have any type of call center software, I would use the extra line appearances on the phone.
Group A would ring in a the numbers that are assigned to line 1. Group B would ring in on the numbers assigned to line 2.

Here is what I tried and it works great.

I created a CTI Route Point with the Published DN of the group. This forwards to the hunt pilot, which is now just a dummy extension. Now I have all the options for hunting with the ability to pass the name of the CTI Route Point to the called party.
