Setup a shortcode of *99/VoicemailCollect/"#"1234 Replace 1234 with the extension of the user you want to leave a message for.
Create a phantom user, call it "gotousermbx", turn off voicemail, turn on unconditional call forward including hunt group calls with the *99 as the destination.
Create a phantom huntgroup, call it "gotovm" or whatever. No queueing, no voicemail, ring mode sequential.
Make this new phantom huntgroup the failover for your primary group.
Now this assumes you're using embedded.
If you're using voicemail pro, turn on the vm for the primary group, create a "leave" action for the group in the voicemail pro client and direct it to a leave voicemail action for the proper users mailbox. Easy.

I used to be an ACE. Now I'm just an Arse.
Silly question but why do they not want to use the group mailbox?
used correctly the group mailbox is a better & more flexible solution. They can have different greeting for the user & the group if needed, also different day & night greetings.
it is also easier to change the person accessing the calls if needed (or simply give access to all members of the group )
Although possible this sounds like one of those requests where it would be better for the customer in the long run if you could educate them on best practice.

The Hunt group mailbox is fine as long as there is an easy way to check and to know there is a message. It will have to light a lamp on one of the Agents phones in the CCR Group.
go to the user and add a source number of the hunt group name for example if hunt group is named Main the source number would be HMain in the users source number tab. Now when a message is left it will light his lamp on his phone, also give them a visual voice mail button so they can see their personal messages as well as their group messages
They are having an issue recording a greeting for the Hunt Group mailbox, and then having that greeting played.
I am going down there tomorrow to test it out.
I made a short code and the feature is VM Collect. The name is telephone number is the name of the HG. When they dial the short code, its either not recording, or allowing the to save. Hopefully I didn't tell them the wrong way to record it.
The problem they are having is that its saying login incorrect when using the *17. or our old short code. It seems it recognizes the HG extension but not the passcode.
Why not use the first suggestion fro AACon, I have used this and it works great the only thing is it will be answered by the users MB greeting.
If you're using voicemail pro, turn on the vm for the primary group, create a "leave" action for the group in the voicemail pro client and direct it to a leave voicemail action for the proper users mailbox. Easy.
ok. I thought we tried that and it wouldn't recognize the passcode. I bet they are not recording from the mailbox who owns the HG mailbox, or then one specified in the leave action.
We also have the HGXXXX in the source area of the user. But I don't think they went to that station to record
What you are doing with it this way is putting the message into the users MB not the HG MB. You would access the users MB to hear the message. By the way it is not HGXXXX it is HXXXX in the source tab for HGs.

What do you have set up right now, we have given you options but I am not sure what option you used. As far as logging into the HG MB check the manager program under HGs and go to the voicemail tab and check to see if there is a PW input. If it is just change it to something easy (2580) then restart the VM service and test again to access.
Mike
I will reset. We are in Intuity mode, so I can try the *17 method tomorrow. It's possible that we were setup right all along and the VM Pro needed a reset. Ugh!
Just to clarify the correct way to configure this from all of the advise previously given.
User source numbers add H<GroupName> (Lights lamp & gives Visual Voice options)
Visual Voice does not allow recording fo group mailbox greeting (come on Avaya this is basic!)
To change greetings create a new short code as follows:
SC:<shortcode to access mailbox> / I Usualy use #<Group Number> but anything can be used
TN: ?"<GroupName>"
feature VoicemailCollect
To change greeting dial shortcode
Press 3 for greetings
select greeting (1 std, 2 Out Of Service, 3 Queue1, 4 Queue 2)
1 to listen to current greeting
2 Record new greeting (speak after the tone, press 2 when finished recording) PRESS 3 TO SAVE (this is the bit that everyone forgets!).
