Hunt Group IPO requirements 2

Hi there, Currently we use IP office 403 control units in 3 offices running 3.2(53)

I'm wondering what is the minimum required hardware to be able to join a hunt group from another office phone? Currently you can't add a user into a hunt group unless that user belongs to THAT specific unit you are logged into, what control units could we upgrade to in order to get this functionality?

Secondly, is it possible to park a call from one office and see it being parked on a phone located in a different office on a different IP403 unit? Or is the park 1 and park 2 lights only going to be tied into the same units those users are on? (kinda like my first hunt group problem) Is there a way to get this work?

for number 1 you will need to be at R4 with advanced networking licenses or R5/R6 with no advanced license. You can do this on newer 406v2 412 and IP500 processors.

for number 1 have not found a way to make this work with park buttons.

For question 1 : only if you buy new hardware and upgrade to version 5, then you can do that.

Question 2 : see the answer to question 1.

Sorry, these features are not implemented in version 3.2 and IP Office 403 hardware cannot run version 5 software.

Another option is to use an IP phone at site B and have it register with IPO at site A. You can then have that IP phone user as a member of hunt group from site A.

So do I need to buy say 406v2's for all 3 locations or is it actually possible to just upgrade it at the two locations where you would want to:

Location A) use a phone to get to the hunt group
Location B) Actual hunt group exists

or do you just need to upgrade the unit where the hunt group is? Or does your entire network need to be upgraded for some reason? Can I just save money and keep an Ip403 at the third location if it's not part of the problem but networked to the other two obviously?

Hey Mike yes that's exactly how we currently get around the problem! Except that, I don't want to have 25 VOIP phone units in the branch office located physically on the main office phone unit just for the hunt group to work...

Reason being is because then Park 1 & 2 are going to light up for both offices together which we don't want they need to be separated which led to my question #2 basically.

Parking works over SCN with a workaround
create a huntgroup called "park801" enable qeueing and have no users in it. Create another one called "return801" and use it as a rollover group so that your calls are not for ever in the parking condition and put the reception into the return801 group. You can make several groups to have more then one park zone you can then send calls to the park801 group and people can do a pickup group 801 to get the calls
For one system use 801 for another use 802 you need to know which system you park the calls in but I guess that that is at least better than nothing.

If you are going to buy new processors try and buy IP500v2's if you can. Just a much better choice for the long run.

What you decide to do gets complicated because of the license changes. They made some changes from release 4 to 5 and from 5 to 6. Getting 406v2's is probably the least expensive option but at least price out going to release 6 on new control units before you decide. The SCN fallback and backup voicemail are pretty nice options among other nice changes.

The 406V2 is the cheapest and maybe best way to go as the hardware is very similar as the 403. There are things to consider though:
The 406V2 must be at least of a PCS 8 build
If you have PRI cards and these are the old alchemy types then these will not work, you can recognize the cards because these have only a few components in line behinde the RJ45 connector, the new hardware has a lot more components spread over the PCB board.
BRI2 cards will not work
VCM 5, 10 or 20 are not supported but they will work fine

Well right now we use 3 IP403 control units at 3 different offices and the voice PRI/T1 is not at these offices in question, it's at the 3rd office. So does that mean I can run an IP406v2's or IP500v2's while still having the 3rd office that has the PRI in it remain on an IP403? (Just because all we really care about is the hunt group problem, between the other two offices that's it.)

Sorry for the double post...

In other words, is it possible to have 3 subnets routed between all the 3 offices with an IP403 containing the voice PRI at one office and IP406v2's at the other two branches just fine.
