I am trying to create a Hunt Group that when zero is pressed will ring all phones. This part seems easy. But after so many rings, I would like it to goto the hunt group Voicemail. Internally, when I dial the hunt group, it seems to work just fine but when I try this from the real world, the entension all ring….FOREVER and ever. Any ideas on what I could have missed?

Thanks

Arggggg....is it me or is this Avaya stuff goofy???

As an update to my last post, I tried creating a dummy user to hold our general mail.

I now have a hunt group that is suppose to make all the phones ring and after 30 seconds, it should go to voice mail after that...AND, it does only when I call it internally....everything works, internally. But, when I call from the outside world, the calls now go immeidately into the dummy mailbox and none of the extension ring.

Please Help!!! I have spent 10 hours so far on this one thing and I am going nuts...I have no hair left!!!

My config is as follows: IP 406 DS Version 4.0 (7)

(2) Hunt Groups

- MAIN is the first hunt group that immediatly send calls to VoiceMail Pro, this is working as our attendant.
-ALLRING is the second hunt group, this is suppose to make all my extension ring.

(1) ICR
-All incoming calls go directly to the first hunt group call MAIN which then process all calls via the auto attendant.

This is not a fancy setup...very simple...can someone please HELP !!!!!!!

Thanks

OK....Final Clue...I might be getting close

If I dial 789, which is MAIN (hunt group) it takes me to the auto attendant. From there, when I press 0, I have a "transfer" command which calls the hunt group 790. The only proplem is the phone just ring forever.

I know 790 is working becuase if I dial it on its own, it works fine....that 790 hunt group rings all the phones and then goes to the proper voicemail.

So, I must be using the wrong command for the "0" selection.

Any ideas ???

is your 0 a transfer or assisted transfer. You could try an assisted trans with a timeout going to a leave mail for what ever mailbox you want.

I think I have tried both with little success. Assisted makes the most sense, I will hack away at that one for a little.

Thanks

OK, I think I can make it work with "assited transfer". BUT, I am curious about something, it doesnt actaully present the caller with a ringing, it give them a two beeps, (call held sequence), is there anyway around that?

Also, I noticed by watching the System Status that even if a message is very short, it stays in the system for about 3 minutes before it is released, this of course keeps the line active and the ports busy, is that because of the "assited transfer" or might there be a setting for that also.

Thanks
Chris

As assited it supervises the transfer so on version 4 you get your beep beep or MOH source.
You will only get ring back tone on a Normal transfer. If this is your only concern you could alway record some ring tone and place that in as a MOH source.

I am happy it is working but as part of the learning, I am also curious why a noraml transfer does not work...am I missing something?

You have to remember from reading what you have wrote. When you do a Transfer you are transferring from the first hunt group.
SO group 790 provides all settings of that group. Is VM on for this group?? I think your answer to this is yes?!

If you are doing assited then group 789 id taking hold of the call management of that call.

i would say maybe you are missing something. I have done this before and had it work with a normal transfer. It could also be a bug in this version of manager/VMPRO. Once the transfer happens it should release the call to the hunt group and follow the settings in the group. you should be able to turn on the VM and set the timers for the group and have it go to VM. Maybe queing is on in the group? THat may mess with it.

789 is the first hunt group and it does have voicemail turned on. The voicemail answer time is set to off. This allows all new incoming call to go directly to the auto attendant.

790 also has voicemail turned on, the answer time is 25 seconds.

So, yes VM is on for both.

I still dont understand why the straight "Transfer" doesnt do what i want. I just tried it again, if i set the transfer to 790, it just rings the extension over and over.

So, Does that make any sense?

Maybe you could try something. Try to send the transfer directly to an extension and see if it covers to VM. maybe then you can see where the issue lies.

If it works under an internal call.
Just check out two things.

1) Check your Incoming call route is not following a time fall back or any things like that.
2) Check monitor and ensure your ICR is routing to the correct group and is not being intercepted by another group or some thing silly like that.

kwing112000,

If I change the "0" sequence to transfer directly to an extension, that work just fine. But of course, none of the extensions ring

Dont get me wrong, the assisted transfer is working, I am just trying to understand why the normal tranfer is not. Maybe I should just be happy with that success :)

TheProvider,

Call Routing is very simple...all calls go to 789, which is my auto attendant. No fallbacks of any type.

does your 789 do any thing?

does your 789 have a vm pro start point? or is your ICR pointing to vm:groupname?

I have only one ICR, it is set at the Destination Pull Down. I assume this mean that every call that comes in goes directly to that Hunt Group. When I call in, it seems to work just fine, processing the menu options properly.

When I dial 789 in the office, it also works the way it should, starting the 789 Hunt Group...my auto attendant.

When I look a Voicemail Pro, I see under groups, the 789 Hunt Group...it has a "Leave" start point which also seems to work.

Sound ok to you ?
