Hunt Group/Call Coverage Question

I have a request to make a change to a hunt group that I have in place.

Unfortunately instead of the curren three members its increasing to 8 which is more than what I can put in in a coverage answer group or coverage path.

What I want to happen is that caller enters the group extension number. It will ring the 8 phones and if there is no answer, go into voicemail.

I would prefer to have all phones ring at the same time but have not gotten that to work. I think it goes to most idle.

Anyway I have an idea of how to increase the group to 8 but I am not sure if it would work.

Have lets say four people in one Cov Answer Group and four more in another. Then in the coverage path for the hunt group place C1 and C2 in the first and second fields respectively.

Then put the voicemail in the third point.

Would this work?

I have limited to time to test and would like to know what you think before I try it.

You must have an older version of the G3 software. Recent versions have the capacity for 8 in a Cover Answer Group.

Putting 4 phones in C1 and 4 phones in C2 would work but group 1 would ring first, then group 2 before going to voicemail.

AS long as u are using a hunt group, the members of that hunt group are not all going to ring at the same time.

Da-vi'do

P.S. A message to all,if you want to get the best response to a question, please read FAQ222-2244 first. Also give the type & version of your voice mail & pbx system & preview your post to make sure it is complete & understandable. Be aware that if u don't answer a question, I usually will not continue to help u.

Maybe you can just do a simple bridged appearance on each person extension?

Not a Cover Answer Group but maybe an alternative for you.
