Is it safe for me to just delete the tape.log file? It is currently 4GB, and I wanted to either get rid of it, or hack it down to something a bit more reasonable. Additionally, is there a place where I can set the size of this file? I'm using AS 6.5.

Matt

I have the same problem. I have turned off the logging but is it OK to delete the tape.log file. Thanks!

You should ZIP the log and save it in case it was turned on by someone needing technical support.

If you are SURE no one needs the log, delete it. Jim P. Ames

I have moved the tape.log file to another drive in case it is needed. But now my job starts, in stops the tape engine and will not restart it. Any ideas? Thanks

Did you use Arcserve server admin to turn off tape engine debug to disable writing to the tape log?
Have you stopped and started all Arcserve services?
Which patches are installed for Arcserve?
Arcserve 6.5 should be at build 622 with four more patches.
Let me know.

The tape engine debug is off and the server has been rebooted, therefore all Arcserve services have been recycled. I am using 7.0 build 1050.

Coal,
Which patches have you applied beyond SP2?
Please read the PATCHING AS 2K FAQ I have posted and let me know what you think.
Sincerely, Jim P. Ames
