Huge Exchange 5.5 Problem

My Exchange server has gone bang. The RAID did not work properly and the tapes are well out of date apart from 1. I have managed to recover the Exchsrvr folder. My problem is i cannot see the priv.edb. Also this has coincided with the purchase of an Exchange 2003 server, will i be able to migrate the Information store, Private information Store and public information Store just from the restored Exchsrvr folder? Any help would be much appreciated..

To move to exchange 2003 from 5.5 I believe you have to migrate to exchange 2000 first. What you could do is if you are able to recover the priv and pub.edb, perhaps use exmerge or some other tool to extract the mailboxes and then import them on your exchange 2003 box, that way you would not have to bother with exchange 2000.
