We Currently have 5 3Com Superstack II Hubs.

We are looking to upgrade to switches to increase performance. How much of a difference are we likely to see in performance.

We have mostly 10/100 network cards.

Also, would cards with only 10 work with switches.

Best Regards,
Andrew.

Your cards with only 10Mbps option will work fine with switches.

Your increase in performance depends alot on how many users and what they are mostly doing.

If most of your traffic is inner office and doesnt go out to the internet, then I would definitely upgrade to switches. If most of your traffic goes out to the internet, then you probably wont notice too much of a difference.

In all reality, go with switches as soon as the budget allows, this lets you rest assured that you never have to upgrade your internal network again since you definitely have maximum performance all the time, and plus a switch has tools that can help you track down network problems very quickly.

Id say, between 100-200 users, start thinking about switches, below 100, dont worry about it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
