i hear the term hub and spoke topology a lot. can someone give me some details about this subject?

hub and spoke topology looks like this

routerA
/ | routerB routerC routerD

where routerA is the "hub", and B,C,D are the spokes...

 
so hub is referred to as center node
and spoke is referred to as leaf node (end of path)?
