I just installed Fedora core 5 on a computer ( full install, reformatted drives) and can't get httpd to start or run. Does anyone have any ideas on what I need to do? I will probably clean off the drives and do a new install since I didn't watch for errors the first time. I've never had trouble before. Thanks.

What error message do you get if you run the command:

service httpd configtest

?

httpd: Syntax error on line 183 of /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf: Cannot load /etc/httpd/modules/mod_auth.so into server: /etc/httpd/modules/mod_auth.so: cannot open shared object file:
No such file or directory

If you want to use httpd(Apache) you have to learn first what it is and how it works.
So you better visit and study the documentation a bit.
Good luck

Since this was a new install of FC5 I reloaded the files again and httpd now works. Still have a problem with the network interface not starting but I will get that worked out. Thanks.
