Hey guys - so we currently only have 9608G & 9611G phones on our R10.1.5 IP office. We use an HTTP file server to provide the 46xxxsettings file and the upgrading phone software. We are soon going to be upgrading to R11 (once the current SP4 pack 2 is fixed), and adding J179 phones. My question is this - If we start adding J179 phones can we also dump the J179 phone firmware/software in the same HTTP file server directory as we use for the 96xx phones? How does it know which phone firmware/software to grab, and which 46xxxsettings file to grab vs the ones intended for our 96xx phones?

Yes. The J179 will load J100Supgrade.txt first and then 46xxsettings.txt.

9608/11 load 96x1Hupgrade.txt and then 46xxsettings.txt

Ok excellent. So they both will use the same 46xxsettings.txt file, but will know to pull the different phone upgrade files. Joe we would go up to 11.0.1, but unfortunately our SCN has the bug where all user rights groups are deleted after system merge; which is a known bug supposed to be fixed in the 11.0.4 SP2 - so we are just gonna wait until that is out.

sorry I meant 11.0.4 sp1 but as I do not care for user rights due to hotdesking issues such as invalid button types we do not use them.
