Hello all.. any help with this frustrating issue will be much appreciated, as i humbly consider myself a power user and could not solve it.
On windows start, my connection works fine, TCP UDP IGMP etc, netbios, ping, surf, all works ok on all ports. After 10-20 minutes, http connection dies! ping works, and i use shareaza which stays conencted; real player (when playing live streams) continue playing the stream without an issue. I am in a LAN, with a static IP, can ping the dns server and other lanned pc's and everything works fine, just browsing dies! After 10-15 mins of non browsing connectivity, the net comes to work again! surf for another approx. 15 mins, then the same thing happens again. Only a a reboot would solve it for me when i do not wanna wait.
Tried to repair TCP/IP stack, with no luck, plus nothing in eventlog that points usefull info. Have a clean system, no BHO, spywares, hijacks or viruses, running win xp pro/sp2 uptodate, firewall disabled, lan card: realtek 8139. any ideas? tnx in advance.

Start, Run, cmd
netsh winsock reset

Wait for the prompt to restart your computer, and restart.

How about ipconfig /renew when this happens?

Also, it could be a problem with something other then the connection itself. Maybe your browser needs updating, or your firewall (if you have one) blocks communications as a security response to some obscure event.

However, in my school we have a lan connection and it often has a problem with browsing like you described - certain sites are not available and such. Try to disconnect yourself from lan and see if your connection runs fine then. Unless of course your connection comes through lan.

actually i tried all what u described ilya56, and it is not limited to certain sites or certain browser, plus i have firewall turned off. I found the same issue with few users while searching and no one seemed to have a resolution for it, extremely odd and rare thing to happen!
bcastner, i went with your suggestion and now testing, i'll post when i am sure of the result...

same issue, that did not solve it.. but tnx for the tip though

When you are down can you ping both an IP and A WWW.
ping 68.142.197.90
ping I had a PC a couple weeks ago that had a bad NIC cable I could ping but not surf, A note book PC hocked to the same cable would surf. One wire open in cable when tested with NIC tester. Point to be made don't over look any thing.

actually allteltec i can ping, and use the net but not surf; more precisly can not use TCP protocol; and that's the strangest thing about it. I am headding into another format.. thank u guys.
