Hi,

I was tring to activate Http Compression in my web server. However I realized that all these options are not enabled. Can someone tell me why? I´m running windows 2000.

Thank you.

I can't tell you why they are not enabled by default other than to think that it could cause you big problems if they were.

My experience of compression on IIS 5 is that it is very hit and miss. I think if you have a simple web site or application it may work OK. The applications I have did not work with the file level implementation of compression and was difficult to tell if it was on or off! (get yourself a http header reader for your browser). I ended up switching to Port80software httpzip that allow compression by MIME type rather than file. This for me sorted my problems, as the CGI and ASP code was producing html, excel, pdf etc.
