Hello,

We have an requirement to use Mercator (V6.7.1)to send and receive XML files using HTTP, I am familiar with Mercator but have never used the HTTP adapter before and I'm not familiar with this as a method for transmitting files. I am looking for following information:

1. Do we always need Event Agent for using HTTP adapter?
2. Any known issues with HTTP adapter?
3. Stability of the using same?

I'll be very thankful if someone can give me a real example of such implementation.

Thanks and Regards,
AShish

Depends on what is happening at the other end. One major issue, 6.7.l is old and there have been a lot of changes to XML standards since 6.7.1 was released. 8.0 would be the way to go. If you are running in a UNIX environment, you can have an 8.0 Event Server and a 6.7.1 one, running at the same time. You can then slowly migrate your maps and systems to 8.0, using the multi-process Event Server feature, as well as the map tuning capabilities.

8.0 has a totally new XML parser for speed and accuracy.

Hi BocaBurger,

Thanks a lot for the reply. Can you please give me some example of both scenarios as in when we need Event Agent and when it is not required ?

Also will making "Source Event" will trigger the map whenever the file is changed at the web server ?

Thanks and Regards,
AShish Malik

Then you need Event Agent. There are examples with the product.
