Hello all,

We have software we use for our legal team at my company. This software uses a .dll that integrates Outlook with their software.

My problem is this. When a user receives and email in Outlook and they want to file it in a case in the legal software they click a button on the toolbar to pick the case it goes to. They select the case from a drop down list and the email is then moved (behind the scenes of course) from their inbox to the Public Folder that exists for that case's email folder.

the legal software has an email tab in it that makes calls to Outlook Public Folders and keeps a listing of the emails that are there.

When the HTML Email is still in the inbox before being moved you can see the body of the email in the Preview Pane.

When it is moved to the Public Folder the Preview Pan display is blank. however if you open the email you CAN see the body of the email. Somehow that display gets dropped. The pointer from the legal software must pull in that info from the Preview Pane because the body shows up as blank there as well.

When i try this manually... Taking an html email and manually dragging and dropping this into the Public Folder I have no problems. Something in their DLL drops it maybe?

They can see that that is drops the info but they don't know why its being dropped.

Plain text works fine everytime... manually or via the dll.

Any ideas? Thought i'd pick your brains!

Thanks
Kathy

P.S. Everything , the dll and manual all worked FINE in 5.5 environment

Worked fine in 5.5 as the format was probably RTF or plain text.

It's really an issue to be addressed with the vendor of the 3rd party software. As a work around, how about converting the incoming emails to RTF or plain text?

One thing that springs to mind, which may or may not be related, is that if you have an email with an attachment, if you print that email when formatted in HTML the icon representing the attachment is missing. When you print that email when formatted as RTF or plain text, an icon representing the attachment is printed. So, therefore, Outlook in it's wisdom handles RTF/Plain Text emails differently to HTML...

One other thing, Outlook renders the HTML using the IE engine, may be worth trying this process with different versions of IE installed.

thanks for the ie tip... we have been working for DAYS with the vendor about their addin.... they've tried a couple times to pawn it off as an outlook issue... but i just keep telling them the only time this happens is using your addin... they tried downloading somethign called OUTLOOK SPY .... but so far nothing.... I'll mention the IE tip... thanks!
