I had a problem installing a security update for Windows XP (kb944338) and was advised to un-install Explorer 7.0 and then re-install it to deal with the problem. I did that, and it seemed to eliminate my updating problems, but now any html links I had / have outside of my bookmark links in my browser (Firefox) do not work, and any links provided inside e-mails do not work either.

This is a real pain, as I have stored links all over my system to make life easier for me. Also, I'm sure this is the sign of more serious problems to come.

Any ideas?

Do you see the same behavior in Safe Mode, or from Normal Mode but in a different profile?

Is there any problem as to which browser is being flagged as the Default Browser in Windows?

This talks about checking that the File Association for .URL is correct.

There are plenty of "links" about links in this thread, see "Smah's" post.

You know, the suggestion to check which browser is recognized in Windows was the answer . . . there was none there. I checked my browser (Firefox) and voila! all my links work.

Thanks so much!
