My printer has stopped printing for the reason given below.

"Fix the problem and bring the printer back on line
to resume printing.

The reason(s) it stopped (multiple reasons indicate repeated attempts):

hpnpf (read bytes from socket): Connection reset by peer<EOT>"

What does this means and how do I fix it

the message indicates that your printer experienced a fault. reboot the printer, making sure you clear whatever caused the fault. If that doesn't work, restart the spooler, to do this use the commands:

# /usr/lib/lpshut
# /usr/lib/lpsched

This should restart the jobs to the printer. There may be a backlog of print jobs that spew out once this is done so make sure you have enough paper, etc.. You may want to just delete all of the jobs first, I think the spool directory is
/usr/spool/lp/requests

but it depends on whether you have openserver or unixware.
you can alos cancel the jobs using the cancel command. Run lpstat -t, this will give you the job number of all the print jobs, then run cancel <job-id> to kill the back log.
